A Natural History of the Senses Relief Sculpture

Image
The Meditation Station Wood, Fabric scraps, Trim scraps, Spray paint, and Nails 7" x 6" x 14" This sculpture visually communicates ideas about meditation and the power of color and sound. I used scraps of fabric organized in the order of the chakra colors, along with sacred geometric patterns and the use of a sound bowl to create a meditative experience for the viewer. I believe it's important to spread the knowledge of the power of color and sound because it can be used in a lot of different areas of one's life, along with the fact that it can be useful to a wide range of people. Memento

Image
Pine O'Clock Pinecone, Resin, Clock Hands 3" x 3" x .5" This piece was inspired by a memory with a fond memory of a pine tree behind our old home. Me and my sisters made it a consistent activity of ours to consistently collect all of the pinecones for ourselves. To translate this memory I went out and collected a pinecone, sliced, sanded, and used resin to seal it. The pinecone was used to represent how often times the most complex things don't seem to be so from their surface. The resin represents how making this piece seals the memory for me to take with me. I used the hands of a clock drilled into the center to represent how this was a memory from when I was far younger. I chose to create this piece so the clock hands could still move, I did this to represent how I wish I could go back to this memory and relive that sense of innocence again. My favorite part of this piece is that natural complex pattern that is revealed when the pinecone is cut into slices. An...

Organic Sculpture Collection

The Dream State Wood, Hot Glue, Gel Medium, Ink, Wire, Yarn 5" x 2" x 8" These sculptures entitled The Purple Window, Nightmare Catcher, and Inner Child were inspired by dreams and our ability to remember and control them. My intent was to visually communicate the different types of experiences that are possible through our sleep cycles. I wanted to focus on the colors being used in these pieces, along with the sillouhettes being created and what tone they translate. I felt that due to the short amount of time we had to create these pieces, they lacked the amount of detail I wanted to include. I want to keep exploring the research behind our sleep cycles and what makes us experience what we do while we are asleep. The making of this work exposed me to new ideas such as visually communicating feelings and tones translated through sleep states.  Silvia Heger silvia-heger.ed Julian Watts http://www.julianwattsstudio.com/ Elsa Mora https://www.elsamora.net/project/one-hundre...

Visual Symbols

Image
Visual Symbols Clay, Ink 4" x 6" x 6'" This ceramic sculpture entitled "Search Inward" was inspired by my desire to constantly learn more about myself. My intent is to visually communicate the journey one takes into their own psyche to discover things about themselves they never would've learned without the power of self reflection. I wanted to focus of comparison of size to show how small we are compared to how much there is within ourselves to learn. I decided to add the with the small man walking into the large head to play into this narrative. I would love to keep diving into the idea of self exploration due to the amount of creativity it has given me. The making of this work exposed me to new ideas such as the comparison of size and how much of a tone it can give to a certain piece.  Melvino Garreti https://parkergallery.com/artists/melvino-garretti Mourel Doucet https://www.moreldoucet.com/the-brown-menagerie Anastassia Zamaraeva https://www.aza...
