Organic Sculpture Collection
The Dream State Wood, Hot Glue, Gel Medium, Ink, Wire, Yarn 5" x 2" x 8" These sculptures entitled The Purple Window, Nightmare Catcher, and Inner Child were inspired by dreams and our ability to remember and control them. My intent was to visually communicate the different types of experiences that are possible through our sleep cycles. I wanted to focus on the colors being used in these pieces, along with the sillouhettes being created and what tone they translate. I felt that due to the short amount of time we had to create these pieces, they lacked the amount of detail I wanted to include. I want to keep exploring the research behind our sleep cycles and what makes us experience what we do while we are asleep. The making of this work exposed me to new ideas such as visually communicating feelings and tones translated through sleep states. A Few of My Favorite Things
Hello Kitty Doll- I acquired this in a cool shop in San Diego California which is where I've gone with a close friend of mine from high school a few years in a row, this brings up fond memories of those trips. Glass Prism- I found this glass prism along with four others in a local thrift shop, I felt that this was not a coincidence because there was Alice in Wonderland characters on them, this has been my favorite movie for as long as I can remember so finding these prisms was a really cool and exciting experience for me. Yerba Mate- This is my favorite caffeinated drink, this is also special to me because it is what I started drinking when I started making healthier decisions for myself like cutting back on coffee consumption. Rubik's Cube- In my self-bettering journey I've also been cutting back on my unnecessary technology usage.
